Amanda Ramirez as in residence with her collaborators: Lawrence Brown, Rebeca Schavez, and Jensen Springer from August 13th - 27th 2023. During their residency the group worked on an full length work that consisted of solos and group work all supported and in collaboration with live drumming and music. They had an informal sharing of their work on The dance deck to end their residency. Amanda will be a featured artist at RAD Fest 2024.

Amanda Ramirez is a freelance dancer, movement director and choreographer from El Paso,TX and has lived in Chicago for 8 years. Ramirez is a graduate of Texas Tech University and is currently a company member with modern and contemporary dance companies, VADCO andSynapse Arts. She also studies salsa on2 with La Mecca Dance Chicago and flamenco with Clinard Dance. Amanda has performed professionally throughout the country spanning from theatre, modern-contemporary dance, improvisation, latin dance and flamenco.

Since 2016, Amanda has presented choreography throughout Chicago with Synapse Art's NewWorks & Mural Dances, Links Hall, College of Lake County and more, including co- with self-produced works, "Machismo" and "Sonder" (co-directed with Kimberly Baker).She is currently in production of her first ever dance film, which she is directing and choreographing.

She is a choreographic grant recipient of Women Who Create, Cliff Dwellers and a recipient of several choreographic residencies and fellowships including Links Hall CO-Missions, SeeChicago Dance, Chicago Cultural Center Artist in Residency, Keshet Makers Experience, and more. In 2021, she began her certification in Intimacy Direction & Coordination for theatre & film with IDC Professionals.
